Research and creation

The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) supports research and creation in the field of architecture in order to help architects develop new approaches and participate in experimental and creative projects. Some of the organizations that use this approach also receive financial support from CALQ. Québec architects may also take advantage of the residencies offered every year at the British School in Rome

The faculties of architecture at Québec universities also offer their students exchange programs and internships abroad that allow them to broaden their horizons and gain exposure to architectural trends in other countries.

The connection between architecture and art is also promoted by the program to integrate arts into architecture. This program actually requires public buildings to dedicate 1% of their budget to integrating one or more works of art that are created for them. Since its creation in 1981, this program has produced a number of original projects that integrate artwork both inside and outside buildings.
