An educational hub
Québec's expertise in circus arts is recognized around the world, especially when it comes to training artists and craftspeople. There are around fifteen institutions that specialize in providing recreational, educational, preparatory and/or professional training in many of Québec's regions.
The two main institutions are:
- The École nationale de cirque, an internationally renowned school that plays a major role in developing and promoting activity in the sector. It has about fifty instructors who supervise approximately 140 secondary and post-secondary school students, including a large number of students from other countries. The School also offers preparatory programs to children aged 9 and up.
- The École de cirque de Québec, which was founded in 1992, offers a wide range of recreational circus art initiation programs, circus studies for secondary school students and professional training.
