World-renowned expertise

Québec's museum and cultural heritage sector has developed solid, unique expertise that is recognized beyond its borders.

The distinctive museological approach developed by the Musée de la civilisation du Québec, especially in 1980 and 1990, have been imitated in social and cultural exhibits. The innovative approaches invented by Québec museums have also made it possible for firms that specialize in designing and producing exhibits and exhibit materials to expand internationally.

Québec museums regularly host international exhibits and create or participate in creating original exhibits that travel around the globe. Québec is also active in international institutions such as the Conseil international des musées (ICOM) and the Conseil international des monuments et des sites (ICOMOS).

Québec also excels in the conservation and restoration of its heritage assets, thanks to the expertise developed by the Centre de conservation du Québec. In addition to providing professional restoration services and expertise, the centre also works with museums and similar institutions to encourage the conservation of heritage assets, including artwork and archeological artifacts.
