Merit scholarships for foreign university students
The Québec Fund for Nature and Technology Research (FQRNT) is mandated by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec (MELS) to administer the scholarship program for doctoral students, post-doctoral interns and short-term research/training program participants.
Target clientele
These scholarships are geared toward students and researchers in all academic disciplines and research areas wishing to undertake or continue a program of studies or research activities in Québec.
Award amounts
- Doctoral scholarships
- The award amount is $25,000 per year.
- The usual duration of the scholarship is three years (i.e. the first nine semesters), with the possibility of an extension of up to 12 months. In the event of an extension, the monthly award amount is $1,000.
- Post-doctoral internship scholarships
- $35,000 per year (non-renewable).
- Short-term research/training scholarships
- $3,000 per month up to a maximum of four months.

Scholarship candidates are pre-selected by educational institutions.
Candidates must meet all of the eligibility criteria for the Québec foreign student merit scholarship program and must submit all of the required supporting documents.
