Bus

Bus service is available between most towns and cities in Québec. Direct service between Québec and Montréal is provided by the Orléans Express company. Other companies such as Intercar and Limocar provide service from the regions, including Mauricie, the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie to Québec City and other cities in the province. Prices vary based on the distance covered, the city and the trip frequency.

Metro and commuter trains

Montréal is the only city with a metro. The service is composed of four lines and 68 stations. This underground train service extends to the South Shore (Longueuil) and North Shore (Laval) from downtown. A single ticket costs $2.75 and a monthly pass costs $70. The monthly pass provides access to the metro as well as to buses operated by the Société de transport de Montréal.

Five commuter train lines make it possible to travel between Montréal’s urban zone and neighbouring suburbs at a regular monthly fee that varies from $81 to $140 depending on the distance between points traveled.

School transportation

Student bussing is organized by the schools or school boards and is generally provided by private companies.

Some public transportation companies and municipalities make special needs transportation services available to foster the social, professional and economic integration of persons with disabilities.
