Mandate
The Québec Delegation in Chicago opened in 1969. It covers the 12 states in the Midwest region of the United States, and promotes and defends Québec’s interests throughout the area. It also contributes to the activities of regional organizations such as the Council of Great Lakes Governors and the Great Lakes Commission, of which Québec is an associate member.
Business Development
- To develop and augment trade relations between companies in Québec and in the American Midwest;
- to provide strategic information to Québec firms on various market sectors in the American Midwest;
- to help Québec firms develop a network of contacts in the U.S., particularly among firms in the Midwest;
- to identify potential buyers for Québec products;
- to encourage Québec's participation in conventions and trade shows;
- to provide advice on promotional activities;
- to promote the advantages of Québec as business location for potential investors.
Investissement Québec
- is both a financing institution and an economic development agency;
- offers financial products and tax measures to companies wishing to expand their business internationally;
- helps these companies find a location that suits their needs and forge strategic alliances with local partners;
- has an office in Chicago that serve companies from the American Midwest since 2005.
Public Affairs
- To make Québec known to the media and help develop an accurate and favourable perception of Québec;
- to maintain relations with government organizations in the region;
- to provide the American public with information and general reference material on Québec;
- to serve as liaison between public figures in Québec and in the American Midwest during Québec government missions in the region;
- to encourage Québec studies in Midwestern universities, as well as in high schools and elementary schools;
- to promote appearances by Québec performing artists on the territory;
- to support exhibitions by Québec artists in museums and art galleries in the American Midwest.
