Mandate

The Québec government maintains a network of more than twenty-five offices worldwide. Six are located in the United States: New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Washington, where it has been present since 1978. The Québec Government Office in Washington is responsible for Québec’s overall bilateral relations with the United States federal government as well as for its multilateral relations with the Organization of American States (OAS).

It is mandated to monitor legislation, programs, and political positions of the U.S. government and the OAS that could have an impact on Québec’s interests. Additionally, the Office seeks to promote Québec’s expertise and interests; develop a network of influential contacts, particularly among members of Congress and the Administration as well as with think tanks and the Inter-American diplomatic community; facilitate business opportunities for Québec companies, particularly with the U.S. government and related organizations; and advance Québec’s interests in the Western Hemisphere through its participation within the Canadian Delegation in the work of the OAS.
