Citizens' rights
Québec society is founded on a legal system that establishes a framework for the behaviour of individuals, groups and governments, governs the relationships between them, and defines their rights and duties.
The legal system, based on the fundamental principles of law, is expressed in a constitution that recognizes the existence of separate legislative, executive and judicial powers, and defines the sharing of jurisdiction between Canada and Québec.
