2011 road safety record - Improvement for a fifth consecutive year

Although there are still too many victims of road accidents, the number of deaths in 2011 was 479. This represents a decrease of 0.4% compared to 2010 and 17.4% compared to the previous five-year average.
 

The most significant improvement concerns the number of serious injuries. Although it was 2036, this number represents a decrease of 11.9% compared to 2010 and 24.6% compared to the previous five-year average.
 

The number of minor injuries also decreased, to 39 388 in 2011. This represents a drop of 4.1% compared to 2010 and 7.8% compared to the previous five-year average.
