A general election will be held in Québec on September 4, 2012
Pursuant to an order of the Government of Québec, the Chief Electoral Officer must hold a general election in Québec on September 4 of this year. Here are some key dates of the election period:

Because September 3 is a statutory holiday, polling, which is normally on a Monday, is postponed to Tuesday, September 4, as provided by the Election Act.
