Healthcare and Social Services
The Québec's healthcare system provides the population with a wide range of services. Universal access to free healthcare services includes physicians and hospital medical services. Establish under the Act respecting health services and social services adopted in December 1971, the Québec health and social services system is mandated to maintain, improve and restore the health and wellfare of the population by making a set of health services and social services accessible to them.
Universality of Services
Four main principles – universality, fairness, publicly-owned and ongoing adaptation of services – underpin the system. Health and social services are accessible to all without discrimination.
